NO WIN NO FEE CRIMINAL INJURIES COMPENSATION CLAIMS
If you were injured as the result of violent crime you may be entitled to apply for a financial award from the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA). Our specialist personal injury solicitors help innocent victims of violent crime to make no win no fee criminal injuries compensation claims. We operate on a totally risk free basis and if your claim is refused or rejected for any reason whatsoever you pay absolutely no fees, charges or expenses and furthermore you do not have to fund or finance the matter as it proceeds.
Legal Charges
Upon the successful conclusion of a no win no fee criminal injuries compensation claim an award is made by the CICA that does not take account of legal charges or expenses incurred during the progress of the claim by your solicitor. Our charges are therefore based on the final value of the award and are calculated on the basis of 25% of the award which includes VAT. In the event that the claim was initially rejected and was subsequently successful upon appeal we charge exactly the same amount as there is no extra charge for the work carried out on an appeal. The maximum deducted from a no win no fee criminal injuries compensation claim is therefore 25% or one quarter of the amount of the final CICA award. If the application fails in its entirety at either the initial application or as a result of an appeal to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Appeals Panel (CICAP) we make no charge whatsoever for legal charges or expenses. Our no win no fee criminal injuries compensation claims are guaranteed by us to be absolutely free of financial risk.
Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority
There are two CICA offices in the United Kingdom located in London and Glasgow where over 500 members of staff are responsible for overseeing the applications process and making certain that all eligible victims of violent crime throughout the UK are properly compensated. (Northern Ireland operates under a different scheme.) All claims forms that are properly filled out and submitted to the CICA are assigned a personal reference number. The claim then undergoes a period of research wherein doctors, the police and all other relevant individuals are questioned in regards to the claim. Based on the information gathered during these enquiries, the CICA decides whether or not damages will be awarded and what the proper amount of compensation will be. As a general rule, most claims are resolved within 12 months. Those that are not completed within a year are typically held up due to criminal trials or issues with medical conditions or loss of earnings.
If the initial decision made by the CICA is met with disagreement or is disputed in any way, the claim can be reviewed by a senior case officer at the CICA. If this review is also unsatisfactory the applicant can bring an appeal to CICAP which is entirely independent of the CICA but its decision is binding on the CICA.
